The TFF Tourney will be going on at SPI. I will need input from all members who are going to participate or want to participate.

As of right now the the perspective dates are: August 15th and 16th or 22nd and 23rd. These dates are the best in my opinion because they fall right before school starts and we can make this the last blast of the summer and include the family. I do realize that some of you guys and gals may have teenagers in sports at that time so if so please speak up early so we can possibly change the date to a little earlier in the month so as not to clash with sports scheduling.

This tourney will be family friendly, and geared towards having fun and meeting members of the TFF family. We would like to keep this event limited to TFF members and their immediate family (spouse, children, Parents, etc.).

I was considering an entry fee of $20 per person to cover the cost of caps and any other cost we may incur, if this is a problem we can do away with the entry fee and have a free tourny. I was thinking the caps will symbolize who we are and what we stand for.

Another question is do we want a weigh-in or a catch, photo, and release tournament. Personally I think the catch, photo, and release is the way to go.

The divisions will be biggest stringer and smallest fish. With that said we need a mens division and a womens division as well as a childrens division. At what age should we consider people adults? 15? 16? 17? 18?

If we have a photographer in the group it would be great for them to volunteer their time to take the pictures of the winners and the awards event.

As of right now we have a first place prize of a half day trip with Capt. Mike Cook. If anyone else wants to donate something towards the prize section please contact me so we can get that listed as well.

The rules will be simple for the tournament and will be discussed on this forum before anything is finalized. The one rule that will not be open to discussion is: Rule # 1 You must have fun.

Other than Rule # 1 I propose the following rules:
All TPWD rules and laws must be followed.
You may fish from a boat, kayak, or wade fish or any combination of the 3.
At least 1 member of the boat must attend the Captians meeting the night prior to the tournament (Friday night).
You can start fishing at midnight.
A committee will be decided upon to rule on any and all disputes. Their decision will be final.
If 2 fish are the same size weight will be the determining factor.

This is all I can think of right now but as this thread grows we will have more input form all of us. This is our tourney it can be as big or small as we make it. I look forward to meeting and fishing with each and everyone of you.

If it happens on the weekend of the 16-17th, I'm in.  I like the idea of having a family category.  I could take my ladies out and let them show me how to catch fish.  Oh, who am I kidding?  They could sunbathe and eat snacks while Daddy fishes.

Lance, thanks for getting the ball rolling. Between you, Texas Red, and any other local members down there that want to get on board I know we'll have a great time.

I like that date as well, so long as it's after June, and before school starts, I'm good to go. I've been wanting to fish down there forever so this will be a good excuse. You local boys need to take it easy on us "out of towner's".

I like the cap idea as well, we need to include "the inaugural year, or first annual" on there because this will become an annual affair.

I like CPR as well, but I don't know how well that will work for everyone. I'd also like to do a live weigh in but we're not equipped for that. So we'll have to put more thought in to that, but we'll figure something out that works for everyone.

Everyone that's interested needs to chime in on a date so we can get it nailed down so those that plan to come can make plans.

Thanks again.

What's a fishing tournament without a "friendly" Hold'em game one evening! Grin

If it appears that this is a lock, I will get with my fellow homeowners and see who wants to rent their units out for that weekend.  Our complex sits directly on the bay with boat slips and is just one block north of Louie's, Wahoo Saloon, Amberjack's and Tequila Sunset.  Jim's Pier (boat ramp) is also right there in the mix.

Before I do that, though, I think we need to determine if this is just a pipe dream or if it will actually become reality with solid participation.

I am going to push this as much as possible to ensure this is not a pipe dream. So far those that have responded seem to favor the 16-17 August dates. I will give it till May 1st to get more input on the dates then I will set the dateaccording to the information put on the table.

No one has said anything about weigh in yet. Do we want CPR (catch, photo, release) or do we want an actual weight. I am prepared to go either way with this one. If nothing else I will use my bathroom scale to weigh things out for a total weight weigh in, it is digital.

Here is another idea if no one else adds to the prizes; we can use the trip with Captian Mike Cook as a drawing prize so everyone has an equal shot at winning the prize.

Do we have any managers from Academy, Bass Pro Shop, Cabelas, Home Depot, Lowes, or Sports Authority on the site? I am going to start hitting them up for contributions to the tournament for prizes (gift cards, merchandise, ect.). The stores are not limited to just those listed I will aslo try hitting up some restaurants for gift cards as well.

I'm in!  I don't have a boat to fish out of, but I want to be a part of this, hang out and have a good time.

Texas Red would you P.M. some info on the rental units?
J. Dean/Lance how do ya'll plan on collecting the entry fees?  Paypal, mail it in or at the "gate" ?

That is a good question Snagle-toof. I had not even considered that yet. I am thinking mail it in and then send a pm letting me know you have sent it and you will get a confirmation pm as soon as it is received. This is why I am trying to get some input from everyone, I know I am overlooking something right now but with all the questions put on the table things will come out that I missed.
